Case study — Development, QA & Modernization

FrontGlow Media

From half-builtto launched, and beyond

FrontGlow Media designs, supplies and installs premium LED displays, commercial screens and residential media walls across the UK, running each project from design and survey through installation and aftercare. Its app was part-built on Base44 when it reached us. We took it over mid-build, finished the development, tested it and launched it. Now we are building an independent Next.js and Django system so the business can grow beyond the platform. This is the work our System Modernization service covers.

The challenge

Half-finished.And the business couldn’t wait for a restart.

AI app builders like Base44 get a product most of the way fast. The last stretch — finishing features, fixing what nobody has tested, and making it reliable enough for real customers — is where many projects stall.

FrontGlow Media needed its app live to support a premium installation business, where every project moves from enquiry and design through site survey, installation and aftercare. Starting again from scratch would have cost months.

  • 01Work out what had been built, what worked and what was still missing
  • 02Finish the remaining features without breaking the parts already in place
  • 03Reflect a real project process: design, survey, installation and aftercare
  • 04Work properly on phones, including as an installable app
  • 05Launch quickly now, without closing the door on growth later

The job was not to start over. It was to finish, prove and launch what existed, then plan the platform the business would grow into.

What we did

Takeover to launch, then a platform to grow on

One team handled the whole journey, so nothing was lost between development, testing and launch.

01

Takeover & audit

Reviewed the existing Base44 build, mapped every screen and flow, and listed what was done, broken or missing.

02

Development

Completed the unfinished features and fixed the issues found in the audit, in the order the launch needed them.

03

QA testing

Tested every user journey on mobile and desktop, including logins, forms and the installable app, before real customers saw it.

04

Launch

Took the app live on FrontGlow Media’s own domain and stayed on hand to fix anything that came up after launch.

05

Architecture plan

Designed an independent system with a Next.js front end and a Django back end, built around how the business actually runs.

06

Next.js + Django build

Now in development: a platform FrontGlow Media owns outright, ready for new features, integrations and growth.

The key decisions

Launch first,then build to own

Why launch on Base44 first

The fastest way to get value was to finish what already existed. Completing and testing the Base44 build put the app in front of customers in weeks instead of months, and gave us real usage to design the next system around.

Why move to Next.js and Django

A growing business needs to own its code and data, control its hosting and costs, add custom integrations, and have pages search engines can read fully. Next.js gives a fast, SEO-ready front end; Django gives a secure back end with a built-in admin for running projects.

Expanding without disruption

The Base44 app stays live while the new system is built alongside it. Data and features move across in phases, so FrontGlow Media keeps trading throughout and switches over only when each part is tested and ready.

The result

Live today,built for tomorrow

FrontGlow Media went from a half-finished build to a tested, launched app, and now has a clear path to an independent platform it fully owns, built on Next.js and Django.

What now

Stuck with ahalf-built app?

Built something on Base44, Lovable, Bolt or another AI builder that isn’t quite finished? We take over mid-build, test it, launch it, and when you are ready, move it to a system you own on Next.js, Node.js or Django. See how we make AI-built apps production-ready.
